A package in WHM is the hosting plan you give a client: how much disk, how many mailboxes, how many databases. You build the package once, then pick it each time you create an account. Without a package, WHM has nothing to attach a new domain to.
Open Add a Package
- Log in to Web Host Manager from the client portal, on the reseller product. The setup email has the WHM username and password.
- In the left menu, open Packages, then Add a Package.
- Name the package the way you would say it to a client. Brochure and Shop are clearer than Test or Package1.
Set limits that fit your reseller plan
Disk quota is in megabytes. 5GB is 5120 MB. 10GB is 10240 MB. Every account you create draws from one disk pool, not a fresh disk of its own.
- Starter: 30GB SSD, up to 10 cPanel accounts
- Business: 75GB SSD, up to 30 cPanel accounts
- Enterprise: 200GB SSD, up to 50 cPanel accounts
If you give ten clients a 10GB package on Starter, you have promised 100GB on a 30GB plan. Make the packages smaller than the pool, and leave room for mail and backups. Bandwidth on these plans is unlimited, so you can set bandwidth to unlimited. Disk is the limit that matters.
Set a number for email accounts, databases and addon domains. Zero means the client cannot create that feature. Leave dedicated IP and shell access off for a normal website client. Then click Add.
Change a package later
Edit a Package changes the template for accounts you create next. Accounts that already exist keep the limits they were given until you change that account. Use Modify an Account under Account Functions when one client needs a larger quota.
After the package exists, create the client in Create a New Account and choose this package. Then point their domain at the reseller nameservers. The product these packages sit on is cPanel reseller hosting with WHM.
