How to Create an Account in WHM

A new account in WHM is a client cPanel. You create it from Web Host Manager, not from your own cPanel. The client then logs into that cPanel for files, email and WordPress. They never get your WHM login.

Create a hosting package first. WHM will not attach a domain to a package that does not exist. The site still will not load on the public internet until you connect the domain.

Open WHM

1. Log in to the HSJ Host client portal.
2. Open the reseller hosting product.
3. Log in to Web Host Manager. The setup email has the same username and password for WHM and for the cPanel on your own reseller domain.

Leave the WHM theme alone. Changing it can break the panel. If the login fails, use the username from the setup email, not your email address.

Create the account

1. In the left menu, open Account Functions, then Create a New Account.
2. In Domain, type the domain only. No www, no https://, and no spaces. Example: client.com.au.
3. Press Tab. WHM fills the username from the domain. Shorten it if you want. Usernames stay short, and you cannot change one later without rebuilding the account.
4. Set a password and store it. This is the client’s cPanel password, not yours.
5. Choose the package you created earlier. That package sets disk, email and database limits for this client.
6. Click Create.

WHM shows a confirmation with the username and password. Keep a copy, then send the client their cPanel login only. Do not send them the WHM address or your reseller password.

What the new account is for

The new cPanel is empty until you put a site on it. Install WordPress with Softaculous inside that cPanel, or upload files. Email mailboxes are created in that same cPanel, under Email Accounts. The steps match the shared hosting email guide, but you do them in the client’s panel, not yours.

Starter reseller plans allow up to 10 cPanel accounts, Business up to 30, and Enterprise up to 50. Disk is one pool for the whole reseller: 30GB, 75GB or 200GB. A new account can only use what its package allows, and all packages together have to fit in that pool. Plans and prices are on cPanel reseller hosting.

You support the client. HSJ Host supports the platform: WHM, the server, and billing. WHMCS is not included. Many agencies invoice hosting in their own accounts and never run a separate billing panel.
