Connecting a domain to reseller hosting means the domain’s nameservers point at the reseller account, and WHM already has a cPanel for that exact domain. Creating the account does not, by itself, make the public website load. The registrar still has to send visitors to your nameservers.
Do this after you add a package and create the account. The domain you type in Create a New Account must be the same domain you are about to point.
Use the nameservers on the reseller service
Point the domain at these nameservers:
ns1.whitelabelhostingplatform.com
ns2.whitelabelhostingplatform.comUse both. Do not mix in a different pair, and do not put an IP address in the nameserver fields. This is a nameserver change, not an A record to a VPS. The same pair is explained in the cPanel nameserver guide. whitelabelhostingplatform.com is HSJ Host’s own DNS brand, not another company.
Custom nameservers, such as ns1.yourstudio.com.au and ns2.yourstudio.com.au, are not something you turn on yourself in WHM. Open a ticket from the client portal and ask for custom nameservers on the reseller account. Support sets the glue and the WHM defaults. Until that ticket is done, keep using ns1.whitelabelhostingplatform.com and ns2.whitelabelhostingplatform.com. White label branding is described on the white label hosting page.
Point the client’s domain
- Confirm the cPanel account already exists in WHM for that domain.
- At the registrar, set the nameservers to ns1.whitelabelhostingplatform.com and ns2.whitelabelhostingplatform.com. If the domain is registered at HSJ Host, do that from the domain in the client portal. If support has already finished a custom nameserver ticket, use the custom hostnames they gave you instead.
- Save. Do not add www or an IP address in the nameserver fields. Nameservers are hostnames.
- Wait. A new domain can take from a few hours up to 72 hours before the site and mail answer on the new nameservers.
WHM creates the DNS zone when you create the account. After the nameservers propagate, that zone is what the world uses. Then turn on the free SSL from the client’s cPanel. Reseller plans include Let’s Encrypt.
If their email stays somewhere else
Changing nameservers moves the website and the mail. If the client already uses Microsoft 365, or mail on another host, copy the existing MX records into the new cPanel zone before you test mail. Otherwise inboxes go quiet when DNS finishes updating.
Your own reseller domain, the one on the service, uses the same nameservers. Client domains each need their own account in WHM, then the same nameserver change. One nameserver pair can serve every client. You do not create a new reseller product per client. Custom nameservers still start with a support ticket. Do not invent ns1 and ns2 on your own domain and type them in at the registrar before that ticket is finished.
Hand the client their cPanel login, not WHM. You keep WHM. That split is what reseller hosting is for.
