How to start a reseller hosting business
Starting a web hosting reseller business means you buy one plan and sell cPanel accounts at your own price. This page shows the margin, and whether the disk pool can hold the packages.
How much to charge for web hosting
Prices below are GST inclusive, the same as the reseller plans. Bandwidth is unlimited, so it is not part of the sum. The figure is hosting margin only. It does not include your time.
A Starter example, worked through
Starter is $29.95 a month, GST inclusive, with a 30 GB pool and up to 10 cPanel accounts. Sell five clients a 5 GB package at $15 a month.
They pay you $75. The plan costs $29.95. That leaves $45.05 a month before your time. The packages promise 25 GB, so 5 GB of the pool is still free, and five account slots are unused.
Change the five packages to 10 GB each and you have promised 50 GB on a 30 GB plan. The accounts still fit. The disk does not. Do not create those packages in WHM.
How to sell web hosting
Set the client price above the slice of the plan that account uses. Then check the two caps: how many cPanels the plan allows, and the single disk pool those accounts share.
In WHM the clicks are set up a package, then create an account. Point the domain only after the account exists. The usual nameservers are ns1.whitelabelhostingplatform.com and ns2.whitelabelhostingplatform.com. Custom nameservers are a ticket, which the domain guide explains.

What the margin leaves out
Your hours are not in the number. A client who emails every week costs more than the hosting margin shows. Domain names are separate. An annual reseller plan can include one domain at checkout. Do not count that domain as profit, and do not assume every client domain is free.
WHMCS is not included. You invoice the clients. Website work after launch is website maintenance, with its own GST-inclusive rates, not a line on this calculator.
When the plan is too small
Move up a reseller plan when you hit the account cap or the disk pool. Starter stops at 10 accounts and 30 GB. Business is 30 accounts and 75 GB. Enterprise is 50 accounts and 200 GB.
A machine of your own, with root access, is Linux VPS. That is a different product. One site of your own should stay on shared cPanel, not on a reseller plan.

Charge more than the share of the plan that client uses, and only if the disk fits. On Starter at $29.95 a month GST inclusive, five clients at $15 a month is $75 in and $45.05 left before your time, when each package is 5 GB. That uses 25 GB of the 30 GB pool.
How do I start a reseller hosting business?
Buy one Sydney WHM plan, create packages that fit the disk pool and the account cap, then create a cPanel for each client. Clients pay you. You pay HSJ Host for the plan. WHMCS is not included, so you invoice them yourself.
Can I sell more disk than the plan has?
No. Disk on a reseller plan is one pool, not a fresh quota for every client. Five clients sold 10 GB each is 50 GB promised. Starter only has 30 GB. The calculator flags that before you create the packages in WHM.
